The Parents

All the parents are bringing up children on their own in difficult circumstances and without a network of support. They often don't have the time to give their children as much attention as they would like. It's hard struggling to be everything to your child, when you have needs of your own to meet and sometimes other problems too. You can feel isolated and unsupported and in this situation children can feel very isolated too. Some children begin to behave badly to attract the attention they long for, others become sad and withdrawn. In these situations an adult friend from outside the family can make all the difference to both child and parent.

Parents work in partnership with FUN caseworkers and positively welcome the volunteers into their children's lives
