About
FUN
Friends
United Network (FUN) is a unique early intervention project helping
vulnerable children (aged 5-16) in Camden and Islington by giving them
a trained and screened adult FUN Friend, for long term companionship
and support.
The
aim of these friendships is to help the children increase their self
confidence and fulfil their potential in life, through the experience
of regular, dependable contact with trustworthy adults from outside
the family. These nurturing and enduring friendships help lay the foundation
for the children's emotional health later on. Moreover, they are not
only fun and mutually rewarding, but are also a highly cost-effective
investment for the future.
Since
its inception in 1983, FUN has helped hundreds of children and
young people through the difficult transitions of childhood and adolescence.
Many of the friendships continue to this day to the mutual enrichment
of all.

healthy childhood is the foundation for a healthy adult life." Bamardo's

FUN
currently operates in two of the most deprived Inner London boroughs
- Camden and Islington, working in partnership with parents and statutory
and voluntary agencies and providing a vital link between lone parents,
their children and the wider community.
